Elche film festival nominates Iranian ‘The Servant’

The 40th edition of the Elche International Independent Film Festival (FICIE) in Spain has nominated the Iranian title ‘The Servant’ directed by Farnoush Abedi for the best animation award.

The animated piece tells the tale of a giant cockroach who gets tired of his servitude to a man; so it disrupts the rules of the game. The man, however, attempts to preserve the current situation but soon realizes that the game has no rules.

‘The Servant’ previously won the Best Animation award at the 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival in Tehran and the Best Short Film title at the 13th edition of Fantaspoa - International Fantastic Film Festival in Brazil.

The Iranian animation has also won an award at the 14th London Independent Film Festival in the UK and the best animation award of the 2017 edition of the Silver Scream Fest in Texas, the US.

FICIE, turning 40 this year, is organized by Foundation's «Caja Mediterrneo». Its main objective is to offer a cultural space to filmmakers and moviegoers.

It is a constant commitment to the promotion of culture and supporting the emerging values of cinema, focusing on innovation, public conversation with the authors and the elimination of technological compete when barriers and vote.

The 40th edition of FICIE has been slated for July 14-21, 2017, in the Spanish city’s Hort del Xocolater.
